From March 10 to 12, 2026, Dou Tianfang，Librarian of Tsinghua University Library attended the London Book Fair and delivered a presentation titled“Transformative Practices of Academic Libraries in the AI Era: A Chinese Perspective”at the“Academic and Professional Publishing”conference.
At present, Artificial Intelligence is profoundly refreshing the global knowledge ecosystem, librariesstandat a criticalcrossroads,facingboth opportunities and challenges. Tsinghua University Library hasaddressed this situation by developing a dedicatedAI Strategy, focusing on Experience (User Experience), Efficiency (Operational Efficiency), and Ecosystem (Service Ecosystem).
Drawing on the practical initiatives at Tsinghua, Dou Tianfang detailed the specific implementation and outcomes of AI-assisted retrieval, AI-assisted reading, and intelligentworkordersystems, as well as the library's role in supporting AI+campus applications. Participating guests expressed high acclaim for the library’s transformative practices in the AI era and showed particular interest in the potential for scaling and applying the intelligent ticketing system.
The London Book Fair is one of the most influential global events in the publishing industry, dedicated to providing a premier exchange platform for publishers and related professionals worldwide. As a representative of Chinese academic libraries, the presentation by Tsinghua University Library fully showcased the latest innovative practices of China’s academic libraries in the era of digital intelligence.
