On May 21, a special event featuring editors from the Nature Portfolio journal was held at Tsinghua University Library, as part of the “Journal Editors on Campus” initiative. Fan Wei, Senior Editor at Nature Materials, and Wang Xiao, Editor at Nature Human Behaviour, delivered keynote presentations on high-impact academic publishing and effective research dissemination. Liu Yiqun, Director of the Research and Development Affairs Office of Tsinghua University, and Young Cui, Vice President of Springer Nature, attended the event and delivered remarks. The University Librarian Jin Jianbin, and the Associate University Librarian Dou Tianfang hosted the keynote sessions. Nearly 500 faculty members and students attended, either in person or online.

Liu Yiqun emphasized that Tsinghua University places great importance on fundamental research. He expressed the hope that Springer Nature and the Nature portfolio of journals would maintain close collaboration with the university’s leading disciplines, providing a high-level platform for disseminating cutting-edge research achievements. Young Cui reviewed recent publications by Tsinghua scholars and expressed strong interest in expanding collaborations. Jin Jianbin pointed out the importance of effective research communication and the library’s role in supporting scholarly publishing.
During the presentations, the editors introduced their journals’ scopes, submission workflows, and evaluation criteria, sharing case studies and answering questions on manuscript preparation and journal strategy. After the keynotes, the editors held in-depth discussions with research teams from relevant departments at Tsinghua University.
The event was co-hosted by the Tsinghua University Library, the Office of Research and Development Affairs, and the Center for Faculty Development, aiming to strengthen connections between Tsinghua researchers and international publishers.
